FAT GRAFTING/COLLAGEN INJECTIONS

Problem.

Skin indentations, depressed scars, or deep wrinkles.

Who is a candidate?

  • Anyone who wants to minimize skin wrinkles and depressions.

  • A person who desires lip enhancement.

Procedure description.

Collagen: An outpatient or office procedure, Dr. Casso recommends this treatment for small depressions and wrinkles. The collagen is injected by Dr. Casso into the dermis at the site of the depression or defect.

Fat Transfer: The patient's own fat is gathered from a distant donor area and then reinjected into the defective area. Sedation plus local anesthesia may be required if there are large amounts of fat collected. Small amounts of fat can be collected and transferred with local anesthesia alone.

Recuperation and healing.

Collagen injections and fat transfers require a few days for a normal appearance to return. Reabsorption is variable, and occurs over several months or years.
